Hello students! Welcome to a new bonus feature on The RPG Academy, Detention!

In this show, we have three featured segments: Extra Curricular Activities, Dead Campaigns, and Class Review.

In this episode, I am joined by Scott and Matthew to discuss such things as Pokemon GO, an episodic urban fantasy-inspired campaign of mine that died due to poor scheduling, and the Fighter class.

Let us know if you like this new feature. If so, more will be on the way!

As always, thanks for listening. We hope you enjoy.

  1. That was a new fun type of show.

I like the three parts of it quite well. I would have liked to hear a little bit more digging into the Fighter, but fighter is really pretty straightforward as compared to some things you’ll cover, so I’d expect more back and forth on other classes.

I really enjoyed the structure of the episode. Opening with extracurricular activities brings everybody in and establishes the sort of hanging out with your buddies atmosphere.

Dead campaigns is something everyone can relate to. We all have them, and talking a bit about how they died will hopefully help keep it from happening as much in the future.

It was encouraging to hear Scott’s story about having an understrength party and making it work. Skipping sessions is such a campaign killer that it’s nice to hear you can actually just go with it if a few people can’t show up.

The class review section was neat, but I wonder if it might work well with the Background/Class combo ideas like you guys did in some of the Faculty Meeting episodes. Maybe you could do that once you get through the basic review of the base classes?

    1. I’m so glad that this new segment is such a hit! And that’s a fantastic idea for what to happen next in Class Review…stay tuned!
