This FAE Deadlands, Episode 3: the Quick and the left for Dead

This Campaign series is being recorded using Google Hangouts and the roll20.net plugin.

It’s being GM’d by Porter Williams (@Rzrstrm). We are using his A&A Method for FAE.

In our last episode our three characters had jumped from the now slowing train full of Zombies. We are now in the vast desert.  In this episode we decide to follow the rail tracks back West to try and find some Apache Horses to make further travel in the desert easier.


The audio is terrible in this episode. There is a tinny and echoey quality that I couldn’t get rid of. I figured out why it happened and it won’t happen again, but this episode and the next is just awful. If you find you can’t get through this episode (and the next) i’ll post a recap before episode 5 so you can keep up with the story.

    Hello… lo… lo… lo… LOL

    How did you all get into that small coffee can? LOL

    Overall if you concentrated on the talk and the subject matter, the echoing sound just seems to pass on by; though Porter’s laughing is really amplified by the echoing… :-/

    Love the treatment and delivery of the Arizona Desert attack. It is funny how it is said, “The Desert attacks you… You attack the desert…” Very good delivery of the 5 desert zones and what the players do to get through it.

    Great improving by Porter with the circling around by Sebastian and what comes out of the darkness.

    Note: If you want to steal a horse, just ask a priest to pray.

      I thought that episode was SOOOO good, which is why I got so frustrated that the sound was off -AGAIN! but I *think* we’ve got it worked out now. can’t wait till you get to ep 5. it’s my favorite now (this one WAS until 5), sad part is I released 4 and 5 close together because we were supposed for record again and i thought i’d have 6 and 7 ready to go, but there has been some schedule conflicts and we haven’t played again yet. So the gap between 5 and 6 may stretch out several weeks 🙁

    Nooooooooo… Several Weeks… I need my FIX!!! LOL

    But that is great that there is going to be a part 6 & 7.

    About how many total parts?

    I thought it was just going to be another grouping of play tests of 1-3 episodes.

    I really didn’t notice the sound issues that much, by that I mean, they were clearly there, but I didn’t find them distracting at all. I’m assuming the issue was someone was getting audio feedback through their microphone of the audio that was happening, a very common problem with multiple people in the internet sharing. Also, this one was pretty epic, in fact, this whole story line has been amazing, and I’m absurdly impressed with how many details the DM has come up with, and I hope that I’ll be able to run an awesome adventure like this sometime.
