The Campaigns: A New World – Episode 13 : Blaine could care less

Hello and welcome to the campaigns, the Actual Play Podcasts from DnD Academy. I am Michael and this is The Campaigns: A New World: Episode 13: Blaine Could Care Less

In our last episode The PC’s realized that Treydak (the Druid) while in animal form had the ability to detect the slugo-creature doppelgangers by scent. Using the fact that Blaine had already been summoned to an Noble Meeting to discuss the unauthorized voting box that had been set up for him, Blaine snuck Treydak in animal form into the meeting so he could sniff around. Blaine, Jack and Treydak walked around the tent until they got to Mavin where Treydak alerted Blaine that Mavin was a slug-o.

In this episode we pick up just there as the Pc’s deal with the revelation that Mavin has been replaced. We also move back a bit to see what was going on outside the tent where Valius and Durand are waiting.

Thanks for listening. We hope you enjoy.
Comments and Feedback are always welcome.

That was a fun session 🙂

    1. Niko,
I probably shouldn’t say this since there are several episodes left; but yeah, I think this is the best one. Great combination (IMO) of the story coming out, and a rare but awesome battle scene starting.

Yes… This episode was very action packed and Michael did a great job jumping around smoothly.

Nice use of foreshadowing with the slapping.

Hmmm… Tough choice… Home or Nobles; slugs might not be your friend, but we need to be allies.

Michael changed from jumping initiative to round the table. Big help for the DM; good job.

Microphone sound is starting to sound weird when Niko is speaking; kind of choppy; kind of like Niko is switching his microphone on and off.

All caught up on “The Campaigns”, now time to get caught up on “Dungeon Talk.”

    Cheers

    1. Jonathon,
Yeah, the audio was an issue in a couple of these. In my quest for ever more perfect sound quality I had some people switch to head set mics (reduces the background noise you get from side conversations ). We did some audio tests and everything sounded fine but what I’m learning now ( those episodes were recorded several months ago ) is that when they fidget with the headsets it translates to a harsh sound. We are still trying to get it exactly right. At this point I have a headset for every player. Still fiddling with gain and software settings to get it perfect. Funny part is I moved to headsets mics to make editing easier and so far it’s taking longer. But I’m confident when I get all the kinks worked out it will be the best quality I can produce in my current environment.

Thanks for sticking through them all. Our next episode will be out this week and I’m hoping to have the first Star Wars game episodes come out I’m the not too far distant future.

Disclaimer: This post contains spoilers of this episode.

This episode was both action packed and yet had comedy, which I found very entertaining. The murder hobo-ing of the sluggo was hilarious. The action was intense and was the most tactical up to this point, in my opinion.
Tredek’s hernia/stroke/shart was also a perfect example of how failing a roll can lead to funny/interesting moments (as mentioned in table topics episode 58). That part had ne cracking up. Overall, one of my favorite episodes of this campaign.
