Faculty Meeting # 74 – Shadow of the Demon Lord Recap/Review

Sotdl

Hello and Welcome to Faculty Meetings: the general advice and discussion podcast from The RPG Academy.  I am Michael, and this is Faculty Meeting # 74: Shadow of the Demon Lord; Recap & Review  At Winter Fantasy this year I had the chance to do an early play test of a new and about to be Kickstarted RPG system called Shadow of the Demon Lord. We were able to set up a “the Trial” actual play of this new game system and here we bring all the players back together to discuss the game and give our thoughts. We all really liked the game a lot and we hope you’ll enjoy our conversation and  check out the Kickstarter when it goes live on March 12th, 2015

I thought that the horror aspect was one of the best parts of it, and I do like the d6 addition concept. I’m very tempted to kickstart it, but I’ve kick started too many board games right now, so I need to wait a bit…

I am curious to to know when there will be more D&D 5e playthrough or Table Talk as that’s what my group is just starting, and what I’m learning for DMing.

      Peder,
Dragon Moon will be starting up fairly soon (a month or two, maybe three) but we’ll have 2 new 5e games staring in next few weeks. One of them is being ran by Travis who has never DM’d before and should be a great resource for listening to how another person runs their first game (the good and the bad).

As for Table Topics we have a few more interview ones coming out but will get back to 5e. We have a lot of general advice that could work for 5e or any D&D on some of our older episodes but as always, if you have specific questions or ideas let us know. I can point you to the right episode or we can do a new one. Regardless we always try to respond back in email as soon as we can if there is a question so you don’t have to wait for the podcast version.

That’s awesome, I’ll be looking forward to the one run by Travis, that will be a great resource as he’ll go through some of the same growing pains while I shall. And I definitely am stealing concepts and ideas and from stuff like Shadow of the Demon Lord, as that was an awesome playthrough and was in a similar style world.
