Hello and welcome to Faculty Meetings – The general advice and discussion podcasts from The Rpg Academy. This is Faculty Meeting # 96 – Origins 2016

This episode of The RPG Academy Podcast is sponsored by Boardgametables.com and their current 1 Million + Kickstarter for the Duchess game table.  Please check them out and support the people who support us.

In this episode Caleb and I recap my experience last weekend at the Origins Game Fair in Columbus, Ohio. Sponsored by The Game Manufacturers Association (GAMA).

Dungeons & Dragons Dread – hosted by Windmill Games. – excellent game. I liked the use of questionnaires and pacing.  Will definitely help my future Dread Games.

Got to meet and play games with Kendall and Chris from The Redemption Podcast – one of the newest members of The RPG Academy Network.

We played Feng Shui 2 and it was the highlight of my weekend.

Played Dungeon World with Jim McClure (@GMJimMcClure), Michael?  (@Verjaeger) and ran by Hammish (@Peregrinekiwi) and we played on the Duchees game table that is being Kickstarted by today’s sponsor!

I had a chance to play Baker Street which allows the players to assume the role of some of the friends and colleges of Sherlock Holmes who is feared dead after facing Moriarty and going over Reichenbach Falls.  The game mechanics are fairly simple and straight forward but it takes an interesting look at solving mysteries with checks resulting in Clues with several possible implications and then further checks eliminating wrong answers (certainly following the Holmes motto of: “when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth!”

I had a chance to playlets an in-development game from Jim McClure and his publishing company Third Act Publishing  can’t spill and details, but will say – it was fun and I look forward to featuring it on the show when it’s ready!

Beyond all this, I got to meet some vendors, make some new friends (some I hope will come to AcadeCon and eat some good food at The North Market.  This was one of my best Con experiences and I will definitely be back next year.

Comments and Feedback are always welcome.
Thanks!!
~Michael
