Faculty Meeting # 101 – Running Modules

New RPG Academy Crest Hi Rez clean edges

Hello and welcome to Faculty Meetings – The general advice and discussion podcasts from The Rpg Academy. This is Faculty Meeting # 101 – Running Modules.

This episode is sponsored by Hyperdrivegaming

This episode also sponsored by City of Mist RPG, now on Kickstarter.

In this episode Caleb and I explain that we will be taking a hiatus till the beginning of 2017.  We have a few more episodes coming out over the next couple weeks and a few old episodes we have been sitting on for a while, so we may actually end up not missing any weeks, but nothing new will be out until 01/17.  I hope you understand our need to take a short break after AcadeCon.

Gamer’s Lexicon: Home Brew.  In today’s episode we cover what is Home Brew material.

General Assembly:  We discuss how to prep running published adventures.

New Student introductions: We tackle the concept of a Ranger with a Criminal background and come up with some options and media examples of this type of character.

We finish up reminding you of our Patreon and reading our newest 5-star reviews.

I’ve run a couple of SW FFG campaigns. I like to take printed FFG module materials and lift out a few areas and then put my own spin on them as home brew for my home brew campaigns. It’s a time saver if you don’t have to create everything from scratch.

My first time to listen. It took 15 minutes for you to get to the point. I very nearly turned it off.

    1. Jennifer,

I appreciate you giving us a listen, but if you struggled to listen because we rambled a bit, then we may not be a show for you. That’s sorta our style. We don’t really present information as much as we talk about stuff and hope that somewhere in there we find a nugget of wisdom that can be useful. The people that regularly listen have said they enjoy our morning radio style – but it’s not for everyone for sure. I hope you’ll give another show a try, but if we’re not for you – no worries. There are lots of shows out there and one of them may be exactly what you’re looking for.

And then he doesn’t even run modules. What a waste of time.

    1. Jennifer,

The goal was to give perspective on someone who’s not used to running modules before and how it was different than my normal processes. For someone who’s brand new we hoped it would be beneficial. If not, I suggest Total Party Thrill and NPC cast, both of which have had recent episodes focusing on running modules which you might find more helpful for you.
