Campaigns: A New World – Ep 18: The Founding

DragonCityfinalHello, and welcome to the Campaigns, the Actual Play Podcasts from The RPG Academy. I am Michael and this is The Campaigns: A New World: Episode 18: The Founding

In our last episode the conflict between Durand and Valius erupted in a near PVP battle. They managed to stop short (just short) of attacking one another after Blaine stepped in and told Valius that an attack on Durand would be considered an attack on himself.

With this temporary cease-fire still simmering under the surface, the true exploration of this city can begin.

As always, thanks for listening.

Comments and Feedback are always welcome.

Funny… “So… As I ask every week, what do you wanna do?” LOL

Structure and a Holiday… WOOHOO! I can see the building of the New World happening bit by bit. Even though possibly a PR move, it was definitely needed in this weird, under the surface, world. ^5

Seriously… Blaine whips it out and they still promote him… No favoritism towards Evan there. Even though Blaine has a 14-15 Dex and a 16-17 Int, it is his CHA that would get him there. But guess things will go the way they are going since there are only two episodes left of ‘ A New World.’ Niko seems to be more knowledgeable, I would have voted for him to be the Captain of the Guards.

Heck Niko, you Grrr… with no map, think how us podcast listeners are feeling trying to piece together everything just by all of your words. Thanks for the map Niko.

Yes Michael, you do a good job with the podcast. The editing parts I have noticed sometimes seem to subtly get edited to the point that it seems like they were chopped or just a sound difference between the talks. Good job.

A lot of comments have been made about the underground city and not being able to cast magic. I am thinking now, why would a group want to hold up in an area like that? I think taking a chance in the above world with a full range of their capabilities would be better.

What is beyond the door? Dum De Dum… (As always… Nice cliffhangers Michael.)

    1. Jonathon,
We talked about the scene with Blain dropping his pants in the DT episode about DM improv. I really had no idea how to play that. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, so tried to go with it being taken as a joke. Probably not the most realistic, but we got passed it.

The thing of Blain being approached as Capt. of the Guard was more to do with his background as Jason’s personal body guard and a drop out of military school. But from a development standpoint, most of the other characters had something they were working on; or were supposed to be.
